The first name of Zghvisubani has been Temka and was changed in 1999. Many people still mention the settlement as Temka. The settlement includes Lotkin Gori and Avchala area.
The construction of Zghvisubani began in the 60s and consists of four micro districts.
Zghvisubani is a distinguished place in Tbilisi for its geographical location. The name itself is connected with the creation of Tbilisi Sea, as the seaside was involved in the part directly. The territory of the sea is bounded by the slopes of the mountains to the north and west.
Zghvisubani Neighborhood includes various kinds of public and non governmental organizations, but most noteworthy is the big number of Universities here.
Here are mostly older, 9-storey houses but there are also some new constructions too. The average price for buying an apartment in Zghvisubani is approximately $400 (sq.m.).
Although Zghvisubani isn’t the center of the city, it can be easily reached from different parts of the city. Near Zghvisubani/Temka are two metro stations, one is Guramishvili(4 minutes drive by car according to Google maps) and the second is Sarajishvili (3 minutes drive by car according to Google maps).
Besides Metro Stations, in Zghvisubani are different kinds of transportation, like buses, minibuses and taxis heading to different parts of the city.
In Zghvisubani there is a stone monument ‘’Chronicle of Georgia”. The monument was made in 1980 by the famous Georgian sculptor, Zurab Tsereteli.
The monument represents different historical and religious occurrences. Also here you can see the memorials of Georgian kings, writers and saints.
