If you plan to move to Georgia, specifically to Tbilisi, the first thing you should know about are the neighborhoods you can live in. Today, I’m gonna talk about Didi Dighomi, one of the most crowded settlements in the suburbs of Tbilisi.
Construction of Didi Dighomi started in 1987. It is one of the suburbs of Tbilisi, located in its north-western part. The population of Didi Dighomi is equal to 35,000-40,000 people; It is divided into 4 districts. The main highways are Ioane Petritsi, Giorgi Brtskinvale St, David Tavdadebuli St, King Parnavaz and Peter Iberi streets.
Didi Dighomi is a relatively new place in Tbilisi. The construction here is still an ongoing process that affects the type of organizations and companies located here. Here are located many non-profit and non-governmental organizations, such as:
As for the type of companies operating here we can highlight several categories:
As already mentioned, the construction of Didi Dighomi started in 1987. So, the buildings here are relatively new. The government, with the help of the independent contractors and companies, is working on recycling abandoned soviet-era industrial buildings that way transforming Didi Dighomi into a modern neighborhood. But the ongoing construction somewhat affects the ecology of this place. Aside from the ecology factor, there is not much landscaping which is not always flattering.
Note to remember Didi Dighomi is located far from the center of Tbilisi. Therefore, many locals express grievances about its location. As for other solutions, public transportation like buses or marshrutka is always available and at a comfortable price.
