As legends tell us, Samgori was founded after a brutal attack of the Persians on Georgia, which was defeated under the leadership of the Vakhtang Gorgasali. Georgians managed to preserve their independence but unfortunately, many died in the process. The victors buried the fallen companions in three graves, and then each warrior tossed a handful of soil. Three hills emerged in this place after a long time, and the valley between them was called Samgori.

Samgori is a large district located far from the centre of Tbilisi. It’s main neighborhoods are Varketili and Lilo.
