General Information
Sololaki is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Tbilisi. It is part of Mtatsminda district. The neighborhood is situated in the south-east part of the city. In the past, Sololaki territory was used as a garden. But in the 19th century, when Tbilisi was being expanded, Sololaki gardens were cut down and a “posh” settlement was created there.
Investment Characteristics
Nowadays, Sololaki is a residential area. Although buildings there need to be restored, they still look very attractive, especially for tourists. Apartments’ price in the neighborhood is high. Buying a house there will cost you approximately $1099 sq. m and renting – $7.77 sq. m
As Sololaki is a very touristic place, many restaurants, cafes and bars are there. For example, Tabidze Street is a great place for tasting not only Georgian cuisine, but also European and Asian. Besides, souvenir shops are widespread there as well.
Architectural Decisions
As Sololaki was considered to be a prestigious neighborhood, rather rich people lived there. Noblemen, merchants and manufacturers had their houses built on the former territory of gardens. The houses were mostly designed by European architects. Buildings in Sololaki are distinguished with their interesting style, carved balconies, painted interior and hidden yards. These days, they remain the same as they were in the past.
Accessibility Of The Neighborhood
It is quite easy to get to Sololaki. Liberty Square metro station is near the neighborhood. Besides, mini buses and buses number 90, 106, 124 are always moving there. Sololaki is not a big neighborhood. Therefore, walking is also a good option to get there.
